Karachi’s superstore Metro has been closed down after one of its staff member tested positive for the fatal coronavirus on Wednesday.
The superstore posted an announcement on its Facebook page, saying that the Safari store branch would be closed from today [April 22] till further notice. “METRO management has decided to close the Safari Store on University Road, Karachi till further notice, as one of our employee tested positive for COVID-19.”
The post further noted that the safety of Metro customers and their employees was of paramount importance for the administration. “We are conducting COVID-19 tests for all our employees and doing the needful as per the government guidelines and the same has been communicated to the concerned officials,” the store management said.
The deadly coronavirus has claimed 212 lives in Pakistan, while 2,156 patients have recovered successfully and have discharged from the hospitals.
The national tally of coronavirus confirmed cases has risen to 10,049, with the provincial governments of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan confirming 4,328, 3,373, 1,345, 495 cases respectively. Meanwhile, 283 cases in Gilgit-Baltistan, 194 in Islamabad, and 51 in Kashmir have reported to date.
