ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mehmood has on Tuesday rejected Jahangir Tareen’s claim that he was being targeted by Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Principal Secretary Azam Khan.

Talking to Hamid Mir on Capital Talk, Shafqat Mehmood said that the action was taken by PM Khan. “I’m saying it openly. Prices were raised. Wheat shortage did take place. Neither of these should have happened. Prime Minister decided to hold an inquiry. Prime Minister decided to make the inquiry public. Blaming anyone else is illogical”, Mehmood said.

Hamid Mir had asked him how Azam Khan, a bureaucrat, could take such bold decisions without Prime Minister’s backing. Mehmood said that the allegation was illogical because all the decisions related to the case were taken directly by the PM.

Jahangir Tareen had said in an interview with Nadeem Malik on Monday that Azam Khan had manipulated the inquiry report against him. He told that he had exchanged harsh words with Azam Khan in the past as well and PM’s Principal Secretary was behind all the allegations being levelled against him.
