Faisal Edhi Responds To Backlash Over His Donation To PM's Corona Relief Fund
Head of Edhi Foundation and legendary philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi's son Faisal Edhi has clarified his position over the collaboration of his foundation with the government in relief efforts for the affectees of coronavirus crisis. Responding to the backlash that he received on social media following his donation of Rs 10 million to the Prime Minister's Coronavirus Relief Fund on Wednesday, he said that the charity organisation could not operate without the government's help on both federal and provincial levels.

In an interview with Independent Urdu, he said that he was full of gratitude and very happy about the fact that Edhi Foundation is working with the government.

He further added that the Edhi foundation had been working with governments since the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak and believes that if all the stakeholders will not join hands in fighting the virus, it will only get worse.

"I urge all critics, opposition, Centre and other parties to forget their differences, stop criticising each other and come on the same page," he said.

The COVID-19 has killed 128 with over 6,800 people infected in Pakistan. Globally, officials have recorded more than two million cases and as many as 136,000 deaths since the virus emerged in China in December.
