CJ Gulzar Takes First Suo Motu Notice Against 'Insufficient' Efforts To Handle COVID-19
Chief Justice of Pakistan Gulzar Ahmad Khan is alarmed at the the measures taken by the government to deal with the coronavirus pandemic and termed the steps unsatisfactory. On Friday, the CJ took his first suo motu notice against the government's handling of the crisis.

The attorney general, health secretary and interior secretary have been notified by the chief justice and have been asked to be more responsive on the issue.

The respondents are supposed to provide details of the measures that the government has taken to be able to prevent the infection and how have the hospitals been compensated with the urgent medicinal needs and skills.

A hearing in the matter by a five-member larger bench will be held on April 13.
