Slain Sindhi Journalist Post-Mortem Reveals He Died Of Suffocation

Post-mortem report of Aziz Memon, a Sindhi journalist who was found murdered last month in Naushehro Feroze has revealed on Friday, that the journalist died of suffocation.


Memon's body was recovered from a river on February 16, with a cable wrapped around his neck. The local reporter had earlier accused the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) of threatening him for reporting against party chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari's widely-publicised 'train march' in 2019.


A notification from the the provincial home department issued on Friday confirmed that a joint investigation team (JIT) under Additional Inspector-General of Police (AIG) for Hyderabad Region Dr Waliullah Dal would probe Memon's murder. The JIT would submit a report on their findings in 15 days, the notification added.


Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah had condemned Memon's death, saying that the provincial authorities would soon catch his killers. 


While talking about a video of Memon, in which the journalist alleged that PPP was threatening him, CM Shah said that “the video of the slain journalist, in which he referred to threats to his life was an ‘old’ one.
