Saeed Ghani Asks Centre To Fly Taftan Pilgrims To Karachi: Sindh Govt To Offer Facilities, Bear Expenses

Sindh provincial minister Saeed Ghani from the PPP has called upon federal authorities to transport people currently under quarantine in Taftan to Karachi by air, where they can be moved into proper isolation facilities. The minister stated that the Sindh Government would take up all the expenses for the pilgrims thus moved.

Ghani's press conference comes as the number of COVID-19 cases in Sindh has increased by 37 within a day. With cases now being confirmed in all provinces of the country, Pakistan's current total is at 94 and experts are warning that it could follow a path of exponential growth similar to that observed in other countries.

Facilities at the Taftan quarantine have been criticized in the international media as well as on social media. Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr Zafar Mirza admitted that they were not "ideal".
