Man Arrested For Raising False Coronavirus Alarm In Lahore
Punjab police on Tuesday arrested a man for allegedly reporting a false case of coronavirus and disinforming people on social media regarding the deadly coronavirus to create panic among the masses.

Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) reported that the suspect falsely claimed that a family in his neighborhood had contracted coronavirus. Upon learning, the concerned family approached the local police and lodged a case against the suspect for spreading fake news regarding them.

The police took prompt action and arrested the suspect from his residence in Lahore. When asked, Superintendent of Police (SP) City Raza Safdar assured that the people who were spreading fake news about the fatal virus would be dealt strictly.

The national toll of confirmed coronavirus cases has risen to 997, with the provincial governments of Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa confirming 410, 296, 115, and 78 cases respectively. Moreover, the government officials have confirmed seven coronavirus deaths in Pakistan.
