America Pays Tribute To Pakistani Doctor Who Died Fighting Coronavirus
The United States (US) has paid tribute to Pakistani doctor from Giglit Baltistan who lost his life while treating the patients of coronavirus. In a statement, American diplomat Alice Wells said that the US was deeply sorry to hear about the death of Dr Usama Riaz who was at the forefront of fight against coronavirus in Pakistan

She further said that the US saluted all health workers who are putting their lives at risk to help the victims of the deadly virus, adding that the country stood with all health teams fighting the pandemic.

Dr Usama was deployed at a sight where screening of pilgrims returning from Iran and other areas to Gilgit Baltistan (GB) was being done. He was on duty when he contracted coronavirus and was tested positive for the disease. He remained in critical condition for two days before losing the battle for life.

Following his demise, the GB government recommended the doctor be declared a 'national hero'. Pakistanis paid glowing tributes to the deceased on social media, urging the government to ensure protection of doctors treating the coronavirus patients.
