A video is circulating which shows celebrity parliamentarian from the ruling party Dr. Aamir Liaquat Husain expressing his dismay over the government’s response to the novel Coronavirus outbreak and the lack of protection for the working masses from the crisis. The popular religious TV show personality appears in a face-mask and gloves in the grainy video, distributing supplies and answering questions from the person making the video.

In the video, Dr. Aamir Liaquat Husain takes the position that the government ought to start distributing a relief package to the poor right away. He appears to think that the government is neglecting those facing economic hardships due to the crisis caused by Covid-19.

He complains that the voices of elected parliamentarians like him are being ignored by the government in favour of ministers and advisors like Asad Umar, Khusro Bakhtiar and Abdul Hafeez Sheikh.

He also claims to have been roundly abused (gandi gandi gaalian) for having tried to speak out and states that the PM is not permitting him to express himself.

Dr. Aamir Liaquat Husain in the video states that in hunger, people will do anything – including coming out of their homes, if the crisis worsens. He laments the lack of aid given to the ruling party’s MNAs in Karachi, even though they “gave 14 seats” to the party from that city.

The Twitter account of Dr. Aamir Liaquat Husain has been posting critical comments about figures close to the Prime Minister since yesterday, including Zulfi Bukhari and Fawad Chaudhry. Earlier today, he tweeted against a number of such figures from the ruling party:
