10 Coronavirus Myths You Need To Stop Believing
A lot of myths and rumors regarding the fatal coronavirus have been making the rounds on social media since the worldwide outbreak of the virus. Doctor Faheem Younus, the chief of infectious diseases at University of Maryland, United States, has busted the 10 most famous myths about the endemic disease.

Myth #1: Coronavirus will go away in summer months.

Answer: Wrong, since previous pandemics didn’t follow the weather patterns. Also, there is never one season in the whole world, when there are summers in most of the part of the globe, there are winters in the Southern Hemisphere. Moreover, the virus is not restricted to any specific region, it has become a global disease.

Myth #2: In summers, the virus will spread more due to the mosquito bites.

Answer: Wrong, as the said infection is spread via respiratory droplets, not blood. So, mosquitos would not spread the deadly coronavirus.

Myth #3: If a person cannot hold one’s breath for ten seconds without discomfort, then the person has COVID-19.

Answer: Wrong, as most of the young patients, who are diagnosed with coronavirus can hold their breaths for much longer than 10 seconds.

Myth #4: Since coronavirus testing is unavailable, we should donate blood. The blood bank will test for it.

Answer: No blood bank is testing for coronavirus, so it would not let you know about your current coronavirus status.

Myth #5: Coronavirus lives in the throat, so drinking lots of water will push the virus into the stomach, where the acid will kill it.

Answer: Virus may enter via throat, but it penetrates into the host cells. You can’t wash it away.

Myth #6: All this social distancing is an overreaction. You’ll see that the virus won’t cause much damage.

Answer: If we don’t see many infections in coming days, then it will prove that social distancing actually worked. Not that the virus was never a big deal.

Myth #7: Car accidents kill 30,000 people annually. What’s the big deal with COVID-19?

Answer: Car accident are not contagious, their fatalities don’t double every three days, they don’t cause mass panic or a market crash.

Myth #8: Hand sanitizers are better than soap and water.

Answer: Wrong, as soap and water actually kills and washes away the virus from the skin of the hand, also it cleans visible soiling of hands too.

Myth #9: One of the best strategies to prevent COVID-19 is to clean every door knob in your home with disinfectants.

Answer: Wrong, since hand washing and maintaining 6ft distance is best practice to prevent coronavirus.

Myth #10: COVID-19 was deliberately spread by the American or Chinese military.

Answer: No, as both countries have the largest number of patients diagnosed with the fatal coronavirus.
