Sindh police say that Shahnaz Ansari, MPA from the Pakistan People's Party (PPP), has been shot dead in Nawabshah by the nephew of her deceased brother-in-law. The murder appears to have been the result of a dispute over land.
Ansari was attending the chehlum of her deceased brother-in-law Zahid Khokhar, despite tense relations with his nephew. The MPA was shot near Nawabshah's Khan Mari river and she had already passed away by the time she was brought to hospital.
Hundreds of PPP workers began reaching the scene soon thereafter.
