Pakistan Bar Council Demands Security For Woman Lawyer Facing Sectarian Hate
Islamabad:

Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) has urged Sindh government to provide security to Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) member Advocate Saify Ali Khan who is being targeted in a hate campaign on social media for her remarks on a religious matter during a discussion on TV which have been deemed blasphemous by certain sectarian quarters.

The statement issued by PBC Chairman Abid Saqi terms the campaign against the woman lawyer deplorable. "The uncalled for outburst of certain elements on social media and putting up objectionable banners in different cities against Mrs. Saify Ali Khan, Advocate, Supreme Court of Pakistan, is highly deplorable," states the press release.

The PBC has also urged the provincial interior secretary and Federal Investigative Agency (FIA) to take action against the hate content and 'ulterior campaign' targeting Saify Khan on social media.

Banned sectarian outfit Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) has been protesting against the lawyer on social media and filed a petition against her remarks.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Sindh High Court (SHC) ordered the provincial authorities to provide security to Saify Khan  while hearing a petition filed by her against the hate campaign.
