Following the government’s decision to award Pakistan’s honorary citizenship to West Indies cricketer and Peshawar Zalmi captain Darren Sammy, commentator and former New Zealand cricketer Danny Morrison has also asked for country’s citizenship considering his services to bring back cricket to Pakistan.
54-year-old commentator, while giving an interview to Express News, said that his contributions to Pakistan cricket should also be acknowledged.
Morrison said, he had been coming to Pakistan regularly since the international cricket had started in the country, and he had always supported Pakistan as a cricket-loving nation. "It is a good decision by Pakistan government to reward Darren Sammy with Pakistan’s highest civilian award and honorary citizenship. However, my contributions to Pakistan should also be considered,” he added.
Recently, Pakistan Cricket board (PCB) took to Twitter to announce that Darren Sammy will be awarded the highest civilian award and honorary citizenship of Pakistan on March 23, for his invaluable contribution to cricket in Pakistan.
Danny Morrison had played 48 Test matches and 96 One-day Internationals for New Zealand.
