In response to PM Imran Khan's statement saying Maulana Fazlur Rehman should be tried for treason, Jamiat Uleme-e-Islam (JUI-F) has dared the PM to file a treason case against Fazl. Other opposition lawmakers also criticised Imran Khan’s suggestion to try the JUI-F leader under Article 6 of the Constitution.
PM Imran Khan's statement was under discussion in the National Assembly session on Friday where Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan earlier delivered an address.
Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto was among the opposition leaders who took exception to the PM's statement. He said that the government was conspiring to make fabricated cases of treason against the JUI-F chief and PML-N parliamentary leader Khawaja Asif.
