Chaudhry Nisar has been unable to secure a meeting with former prime minister Nawaz Sharif after arriving in London for a visit.
Nawaz Sharif was approached by his former interior minister during the latter's two-week visit to the UK, but is reported to have turned down the request. Meanwhile senior figures of the PML-N such as Shehbaz Sharif and Ishaq Dar have refused to either publicly acknowledge or deny that there had been a request for a meeting.
PML-N sources indicate that the former PM is reluctant to be seen meeting Chaudhry Nisar, since it would “send the wrong message” to those party stalwarts who stood by him through a difficult period.
