Chaudhry Nisar’s Efforts To Mend Ties With Nawaz Sharif Fail Miserably
Well before Chaudhry Nisar flew to London on Tuesday, Pakistani mainstream media and social media were abuzz with news about the possible meeting between the estranged leader and the PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif.

Naya Daur Media has learnt on authority that not only the “news” of the possible meeting was spread by Chaudhry himself to provide a backdrop to facilitate the meeting, but a serious effort was made by him to initiate a rapprochement; which ended in a miserable failure.

Well-placed sources told Naya Daur that a family member of Chaudhry Nisar called former finance minister Ishaq Dar to mediate, but got a cold shoulder from the former finance minister.

According to the sources, when a family member of Chaudhry Nisar's called Ishaq Dar to intervene, the person requesting the thaw was told that the gulf was too wide for him to bridge and politely declined to help.

Chaudhry Nisar who opposed the GT road long march of the former prime minister and uttered unkind words about other PML-N leaders including Khawaja Asif, Ahsan Iqbal and Pervaiz Rasheed, had not spared Maryam Nawaz Sharif and had criticised her multiple times.

Nisar was in London after the demise of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz on September 11, 2018 and reportedly advised by Ishaq Dar to attend the final rites. Nisar did go to London for the prayer at that time but after his return didn’t visit Nawaz Sharif at any time to condole with him. “This was probably the last nail”, says a senior PML-N leader, requesting anonymity.

Meanwhile, sources say Shehbaz Sharif and Ishaq Dar, both had several times managed the truce between Chaudhry Nisar and Nawaz Sharif but this time around neither one of them was ready to risk the rapprochement.

“It is after the clear no from Ishaq Dar that Nisar in London told the reporters that he himself was ill and expected others to visit him”, said a senior PML-N leader. With a clear refusal, the door for Chaudhry Nisar has now been slammed shut to re-enter PML-N.

Chaudhry Nisar who is expected to stay in London on his private visit is expected to return in two weeks time. He is passing through a political wilderness as he lost on both national assembly constituencies he had contested as an independent. PTI leadership too did not seek his entry into the party as Chaudhry Sarwar had defeated him during the July 2018 elections.
