Rights activist Gulalai Ismail's mother has said that she has been placed on Exit Control List (ECL) on orders from the federal cabinet. According to journalist Asad Hashim, who also shared the notification, she has been accused of 'anti-state activities' for supporting her daughter.

In October, Gulalai's father Prof. Ismail was arrested by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for 'spreading hate against the state'. Later, the Peshawar High Court (PHC) had granted him 'conditional bail'.
