In a worrying development, the health department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province has confirmed 5 new cases of polio virus.
According to a report in Jang newspaper, four cases have even reported in district Khyber and one in Nowshehra.
In the current year, the total number of polio cases has increased to 15.
In January, tPakistan’s polio toll reached 134, after six new cases were reported at the start of the current year.
Last year, the PTI government was accused of a cover up.
Pakistani government officials were accused of covering up a renewed outbreak of the deadliest strain of polio virus and planned a covert vaccination programme to counter the disease.
Anti-polio workers have also been repeatedly attacked for carrying out heir work.
