Royal couple Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have announced their resignation from public Royal Life and have pledged to become financially independent.
In a statement shared on their official Instagram page, the duke and duchess of Sussex announced that they would be stepping back from their roles as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family.
The statement said that, “(We intend to) work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.” They added that they would be splitting their time between North America and the UK.
Prince Harry and Meghan said that the decision had been made after many months of reflection and internal discussions.
After the statement was shared, the Buckingham Palace gave its official response, stating that discussions with the Prince Harry and Meghan were at an early stage. The statement added, “We understand their desire to take a different approach, but these are complicated issues that will take time to work through.”
