Mustafa Nawaz To Give Up Islamabad Bar Membership To Protest Faith Declaration Notice
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokar has announced that he would give up his membership of the Islamabad Bar Association to protest its notice asking members to declare their faith. He said that he was saddened to be put under the spotlight to prove his faith. In a tweet reacting to the Islamabad Bar Association notice seeking an affidavit from its members to declare their faith, the PPP lawmaker said that Jinnah’s Pakistan remains a distant dream.
Clearly Jinnah’s Pakistan remains a distant dream! His 11th August speech buried in heaps of paranoia, intolerance and bigotry. Being a member of the Isb Bar, I am deeply saddened to b put under the spotlight to prove my faith. Suppose will b loosing my membership after the 31st. pic.twitter.com/Wn9j3dLD0C

On Thursday, Islamabad Bar Association has issued a notice asking its members to sign an affidavit declaring their faith, in an apparent bid to single out Ahmadi lawyers. The members have been given an ultimatum until January 30 to submit the affidavit.
