Muslim Leaders Visit Nankana Sahib Gurdwara To Express Solidarity With Sikh Community
Muslims leaders including religious figure Syed Ali Raza paid a visit to Gurdwara Nankana Sahib to express solidarity with the Sikhs and have strongly condemned Friday’s incident at the Gurdwara wherein a mob threatened Sikhs in Nankana Sahib with violence.

Syed Ali Raza stated that it was highly condemnable that a person, due to a personal grievance, had come to the Gurdwara and tried to settle the matter by portraying it as a religious dispute.

Important figures like Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan president and scholar Dr Tariq Sharifzada were also present on the occasion.

On Friday, a number of people surrounded the Gurdwara Nankana Sahib to hold a demonstration against Sikhs, raising slogans vowing to re-name Nankana Sahib to Ghulam-e-Mustafa.

The incident generated outrage on social media with people calling on the authorities to act and arrest the culprits so the religious harmony of the area can be maintained.

Foreign Office reacted to the incident and claimed that the incident was not a communal issue. “The provincial authorities in the Punjab province have informed that there was [a] scuffle in the city of Nankana Sahib today, between two Muslim groups. The altercation happened on a minor incident at a tea-stall,” the FO spokesperson said, and added that the district administration “immediately intervened” and arrested the accused, who are now in custody.
