Daily Pakistan Today has reported that Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Shabbar Zaidi will go on an indefinite leave on health grounds.
As per the newspaper, the FBR chief may take his leave from Monday.
Zaidi was earlier on on leave during the first week of January for 15 days.
"This development may have a serious impact on the tax reform envisioned by the PTI government, as well as its compliance of IMF conditions," a commentator told Naya Daur Media.
PT has also reported that the Supreme Court had questioned FBR staff for not taking action against officials involved in a fake sales tax refund.
As per the newspaper, the FBR chief may take his leave from Monday.
