Aasia Bibi’s First Picture After Release Goes Viral
Aasia Bibi’s first picture after release, reportedly in Canada, has gone viral on social media where people have expressed delight to see her enjoy freedom after many years of wrongful incarceration.
In the picture, an overjoyed Aasia Bibi is seen with journalist Anne-Isabelle Tollet, who is co-authoring Bibi’s book about her time in prison.
Twitterati termed the picture heartwarming and recalled how her hard-earned freedom followed years of advocacy by rights activist and two politicians, Salmaan Taseer and Shahbaz Bhatti, were killed in the process.
First picture of Asia Bibi released today since her release. A beautiful smile that reflects the freedom & joy of being with her loved ones.

Aasia Bibi spent eight years in jail over blasphemy allegations which were later proven to be false. The Supreme Court had absolved her of blasphemy charges last year, but she was kept in protective custody for six months due to pressure of religious extremists before finally leaving for Canada where she is presently staying.
