UN Declares Malala ‘Most Famous Teenager’ Of This Decade

The United Nations has declared Malala Yousafzai the most famous teenager in the world of this decade in its UN News Decade In Review.

The review looks at the biggest stories that occurred between 2010 and 2019, and highlights Malala’s contributions as having had a positive impact in this decade.

The review highlights Malala’s efforts to promote girls’ education. It stated how from a young age, the Pakistani student spoke out in favour of girls’ education and shed light on the atrocities of the Taliban.

It further noted that Malala was born and brought up in the volatile Swat valley and was shot by Taliban gunmen on her way home from school.

The review also said that Malala’s activism and profile grew after the assassination attempt and she went on to win several high-profile awards, including the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize. She later became the UN Messenger of Peace in 2017.
