TTP Commander Involved in 2015 Karachi Safoora Goth Massacre Killed in Afghanistan

A Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commander involved in the 2015 Karachi Safoora Goth massacre, in which more than 40 Ismaili Shias died, has been killed in Afghanistan.

According to a report by Anadolu Agency, Qari Saifullah Mehsud, a spokesperson of the Hakimullah Mehsud group, was killed by unknown gunmen outside Guloon camp in Afghanistan’s Khost province.

The attack was carried out by the Haqqani network of the Afghan Taliban, the TTP confirmed to international media on Sunday.

Qari Saifullah has been wanted by local law enforcement authorities for involvement in various terror attacks, particularly the 2015 Safoora Goth massacre in Karachi, wherein gunmen attacked a bus and killed more than 40 members of the Shia community. All the victims were members of the Ismaili Shia sub-sect.

According to journalist Farzana Shah, the slain commander was part of the Qari Hussain suicide squad.
