Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) minority legislator Dr Ramesh Kumar has said that the reinstatement of Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chohan may give a negative image.
Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan had been reinstated as the information minister of Punjab on Monday, months after he had resigned following his derogatory comments about the Hindu community.
When Chohan had made derogatory remarks about the Hindu community, Dr Kumar had voiced his strong disapproval.
While talking to The News, Dr Kumar opined that the fact that the prime minister had appointed a tested person to the position showed that the party lacked better people.
Dr Kumar added that a person with a ‘negative attitude’ should not be given the position.
He said that previously, Chohan’s role was negative and his remarks were not acceptable to any good human being, adding that the move would convey a negative message.
In March, Chohan had resigned following severe criticism regarding his bigoted remarks against he Hindu community. In a television programme, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s member of provincial assembly (MPA) of Punjab had said that Hindus were ‘cow-urine drinking people’.
