Petrol Prices To Go Up Starting January

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has proposed an increase in the price of petrol which is to start in January 2020.

According to OGRA the price for petrol will increase by 2.61 rupees, kerosene oil by 3.1 rupees, high speed diesel by 2.25 and light diesel by 2.08.

OGRA will send off the notification to the ministry of energy that will forward it to the finance ministry. The government is going to review this proposal today.

The government also increased the petroleum levy on products as well. In the PML-N government, petroleum levy was between 3 and 10 rupees while the one during PTI is between 3 and 18 rupees.

The rise comes after a slash in petroleum prices during December.
