Prime Minister Imran Khan had said after the imposition of emergency in Novemeber 2007 that Musharraf had committed high treason by imposing emergency.
In an old interview by Dr Shahid Masood, the incumbent prime minister had been contacted following the imposition of emergency and asked what he thought about the circumstances prevailing at that time.
Imran Khan, who had been placed under house arrest and later had escaped into hiding, stated that General Musharraf had committed high treason. He added that the general imposed an emergency which was struck down by the Supreme Court.
He stated that the then dictator had sent the army to expel judges of the Supreme Court.
Imran Khan said that this was a clear-cut case of Article 6, which is punishable by death.

A special court hearing the case of former President General (retired) Pervez Musharraf has awarded him the death sentence in the case of high treason.
Following the verdict, members of PM Imran’s party, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, had come out in support of Musharraf. Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry said that such decisions created cracks between institutions while Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan said that a soldier can never be a traitor.
