Actress Mehwish Hayat has defended former president General (retired) Pervez Musharraf, and has asked people to put politics aside as Musharraf deserved the opportunity to be heard.
In a tweet posted from her account, Hayat asked people to put politics aside and consider that fact that Musharraf was our president who had guided us through difficult times.
She added, “Like him or loathe him, he deserves the opportunity to be heard.”

She added that we needed to grant him that dignity (of being heard) and asked her followers, “After all does the law not say innocent till proven guilty?"
Former president Musharraf, who is in a hospital in Dubai due to ill health, said on Wednesday that he was being victimised through the high treason case.
