KP Govt Asks SC To Stop FIA Investigation Into Peshawar BRT Irregularities

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has petitioned the Supreme Court (SC) to stop a Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) probe into irregularities in the Peshawar Rapid Bus Transit (BRT) project.

The probe was ordered by the Peshawar High Court (PHC) bench that comprised Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth and Justice Ahmed Ali.

By orders of the court, the probe started in December. The government had already decided to file a civil petition against the PHC order in the SC.

The bench also heard three other petitions regarding the project. Two concerned the construction of project building near houses and one was related to the construction of pedestrian bridges or underpasses.

Last year the PHC, under Justice Seth, had ordered NAB to look into irregularities in the project. The government had petitioned the SC then as well and the NAB findings were never publicized.
