Govt Rejects Whole Verdict In Musharraf Case, Not Just Para 66: Azam Swati

Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Senator Azam Swati has said that the Musharraf treason verdict was an act of ‘judicial adventurism’.

The minister said that the government had an issue with the whole verdict in the treason case, not just paragraph 66. According to him, the verdict words to the judges’ ego and biases.

He added that paragraph 66 stood out because it got attention from everyone.

He also said that the verdict did not punish or involve those who were working with Musharraf to impose the emergency and hence is flawed.

The Musharraf treason verdict came out on the 17th of December and was widely discussed because of Justice Waqar Seth’s controversial lines in paragraph 66 where he said that if Musharraf dies before he is punished, his body is to be dragged to D-Chowk and hung there for three days.
