FIA Accuses Monal Of Corruption, Seeks Audit Records
The Federal Investigation Agency has called for Capital Development Authority to submit records of Monal Restaurant in order to investigate corruption and violations of law by the restaurant.

According to details, the FIA has demanded all the records pertaining to Monal’s affairs, including corruption, violation of PEPRA laws, non-payment of tax and illegal construction.

The FIA has sought Monal’s records from CDA numerous times in the past, but has not made much progress in this regard.

Moreover, the FIA has also demanded the records of all the officials who were working in CDA when land was leased for Monal Restaurant.

In its previous notice to CDA, the FIA had sought all documents pertaining to construction, the transparency issues raised by the audit department, the process of leasing, payment of property tax, and land ownership.

In the past, the parliament’s public accounts committee has raised issues about CDA’s leasing of land to Monal Restaurant.

An official of FIA told Naya Daur on the condition of anonymity that in the past, massive corruption had been carried out in CDA but it has not been properly investigated.

When Naya Daur contacted an FIA official involved in the inquiry and asked them about non-action following previous inquiries, they refused to comment.

It is pertinent to mention that a top official of the CDA had given the contract for Monal Restaurant to a relative at an extremely low rate through an open auction.

In November, the CDA had told a parliamentary committee that the Monal Restaurant in Islamabad was built on military land and they wanted it back.
