Punjab Information Minister Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chohan has said that Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar should be praised like Sher Shah Suri, the founder of the Suri Empire that ruled India in the 16th century.

While addressing media personnel on Tuesday, Chohan highlighted how the previous government had caused a loss of Rs21 billion to the national exchequer.

He added that CM Buzdar had reduced the expenses of the province by Rs550 million, which amounts to 60 percent, and hence should be praised like Sher Shah Suri.

Sher Shah Suri was famous for his mastery of administrative affairs and for his streamlining of financial matters.

Chohan added that Usman Buzdar’s government had recovered loans of over Rs10 billion in one year, while 35 percent budget for south Punjab had been allocated to build shelter homes for the poor.

The information minister further added that the province had managed to collect 104 percent tax revenue, leading to an increase in its income by up to Rs75 billion.

Chohan further said that the leaders of the ‘so-called’ leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Pakistan People’s Party had grabbed government lands during their rule.
