Ahsan Iqbal Arrested In Narowal Sports City Corruption Case
PML-N politician Ahsan Iqbal has been arrested by NAB in Rawalpindi.
He was implicated in the Narowal Sports City project over claims of corruption. He will be produced in front of an accountability court tomorrow where NAB will request a physical remand for him.
Iqbal was charged with using funds given to the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) for the project in Narowal. He had submitted needed documents to show his income and expenditure. He also stated that he had nothing to do with the project as it was started under the PPP.
When Iqbal took up his position as a federal minister under PML-N, the project was revived and pursued with a renewed enthusiasm. According to him, the project was 90 percent complete and the PTI had brought it to a complete halt when they came into power. Because of that work already done on the project was also deteriorating.
He was called on by NAB for hearing today in Rawalpindi.
PML-N leader Miftah Ismail was granted bail earlier today over his involvement in the LNG case.
