Suspect Who Paraded A Woman Naked Arrested After Two Years
Dera Ismail Khan

Dera Ismail Khan police on Friday arrested the main accused in a two-year old case of parading a woman naked in a local village. The suspect, however, had offered himself for arrest.

In October 2017, a local woman had her house broken into by dozen armed men, with the men stripping her naked and parading her around the village over a water dispute. The incident took place within the remits of the Chaudwan police station.

The case had resulted in an outrage and was heard by the Peshawar High Court. The court had directed the police to arrest those involved and had also ordered the human rights cell of the court to gather regular updates on the matter.

The DI Khan police was able to arrest most of the suspects in the case and had carried out a forensic analysis of their electronic devices for videos of the victim.

The police however failed to get hold of the main accused, Sajawal Khan, who it was believed had gone into hiding or had fled the country. Raids were conducted to arrest him in the district and in other locations in Punjab and Karachi.

In the last hearing of the case, the court had ordered DI Khan Regional Police Officer (RPO) Captain (retired) Feroz Shah and DI Khan District Police Officer (DPO) Derawar Bangash to immediately apprehend the suspect.

Police on Friday stated that Sajawal Khan had voluntarily appeared before DPO Bangash and had surrendered.
