'Patwari' Renamed To Village Officer

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has officially agreed to a change in the nomenclature of the land revenue department, renaming the post of patwari to village officer.

According to a report in Dawn, The decision was made during a meeting at the chief minister’s office in which the performance of the revenue department and the Punjab Land Record Authority came under review.

The village officers would be inducted at BPS-14 through the Punjab Public Service Commission. They would go through six months of compulsory training.

The meeting further decided to turn one tehsil of Lahore into a model tehsil in terms of revenue. The chief minister directed the commissioner of Lahore to take the required steps to make the model tehsil.

While speaking on the occasion, the chief minister in his comments to the attendees said that the government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf had put in place revolutionary measures to facilitate the people in issues pertaining to revenue.

He further stated that bank counters would be established at the Land Record Centres to facilitate payments.

Moreover, he warned that officials who would take bribes would find themselves behind bars.

Furthermore, during the meeting, the proposal to change the designations of assistant director land record into tehsildar and land record officer into naib-tehsildar also came under review.
