Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s physician has said that the reason he being treated at home instead of the hospital was because it was dangerous to keep him there due to his impaired immunity.
In a tweet from his official account on Twitter, Dr Adnan responded to those targeting Nawaz Sharif for not staying at the hospital. He said that it was not advisable for Nawaz Sharif to stay in the hospital as hospital-acquired infections could be fatal due to impaired immunity.

He said that doctors had advised that Nawaz Sharif be managed in isolation in a high-dependency unit facility. Dr Adnan also said that the Sharif Medical City managed one such facility at Nawaz Sharif’s home to provide him with what was necessary.

In October, the former prime minister was diagnosed with acute immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). ITP is an immune disorder which causes, amongst other symptoms, a decrease in the blood platelet count.
The former prime minister’s treatment has taken the form of Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) – which is made possible by blood donations from various individuals.
On October 29, Nawaz Sharif was granted bail on medical grounds. Prior to the granting of bail, Nawaz Sharif was being treated in Services Hospital. Following his bail, the former PM was shifter to his house, something many have criticised, even shedding doubts on his illness.
