Khanewal Police Arrest Suspect For Murdering, Burning Body For 'Honour'

Police in Khanewal have found the body of a man who was murdered and burnt allegedly in the name of honour.

A news report in Dawn cited Khanewal Jahanian Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Shamsuddin as saying that the individual who murdered the man tortured him first. Following the murder, he burnt his body.

The DSP told media that the suspect was suspicious that the victim and his cousin had illicit relations and that the murder was carried out in the name of honour.

The police officer stated that an investigation was being carried out. He recognised the timely response of police, who arrested the suspect within an hour of receiving information.

According to Khanewal DPO Shahzad, the police had received information that a burnt body had been found in Jahanian. The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) and forensic teams responded to the report and cordoned off the site.

The forensic team launched the collection of evidence and police began interrogation with the local people, which led to a clue that resulted in the suspect’s arrest.

Khanewal DPO stated that an investigation was still being carried out to determine the motive of the murder, the weapon used, and any other people involved in the murder.

The suspect has admitted to the crime during his investigation.
