One of Kifayatullah’s sons has claimed that the attackers were those against whom Mufti Kifayatullah spoke publicly. He added that the attackers did not want to eliminate him but only wanted to send the message not to speak against them.
People have taken to social media to condemn the attack and demand the arrests of those involved.

Awami National Party Vice President Saqib Ullah Chamkhani opined that the attack on JUI-F leader by masked attackers was condemnable act, adding that the episode had signature prints of ‘Unknown’.
Early morning attack on JUI-F leader , Mufti Kifayatullah by masked assailants is a condemnable act. The episode has signature prints of "Unknown." Unfortunately, not a single person in such cases has got justice in this Land of Pure. Mufti's case will end up with the same fate.
