Journalist Murdered By Husband For Not Quitting Job
A 27-year-old woman Pakistani journalist was murdered allegedly by her husband for not quitting her job.

The FIR registered regarding the case stated that the couple had gotten married seven months ago but their relations worsened soon after tying the knot.

The journalist, Urooj Iqbal, was associated with a Urdu newspaper and was shot to death by her husband, Dilawar Ali, when she was entering her office in Qila Gujjar Singh in Lahore.

A senior police officer, Dost Mohammad, informed media that the journalist was shot in the head and was taken to the hospital, but it was too late.

He added that they had registered an FIR against her husband on the complaint of Urooj’s brother.

In the FIR, Urooj’s brother Yasir Iqbal said that her sister had a love marriage with Ali seven months back but their relations worsened over various domestic issues.

He added that one of Ali’s often repeated demand was that Urooj shoud quit her job.

Iqbal further said that Urooj used to be tortured by her husband over the matter and recently, a complaint against her husband had been registered. The police, however, had taken no action.

Urooj was a crime reporter who had started living in a room next to her newspaper’s office after relations with her husband soured.

Moreover, police have obtained footage of the site of the incident and have sent it for forensic analysis.
