Interior Secretary of Pakistan Azam Suleman Khan has apologised to the Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani on behalf of officials and officers for failing to attend the proceedings of the Senate and its committees.

In a formal letter addressed to Senate Secretary Muhammad Anwar, the interior secretary has given his assurance that he would be careful in the future.

Explaining his stance, the interior secretary stated that member of the Capital Development Authority, Khushal Khan, was deputed to attend the Senate meeting on November 8, 2019, who was on leave. He added that the director general of CDA’s legal department had failed to depute an alternative, which resulted in an embarrassing situation.

The interior secretary said that the chairman of the CDA had been directed to take action against the officers for this negligence.

In his letter, the interior secretary observed that the Interior Ministry places the parliament and his committees in high esteem and tendered an unconditional apology to remain careful in the future.
