Activist Farooq Tariq, while addressing the Students Solidarity March in Lahore, announced that Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has told him that he would restore the degree of Hasnain Jamil, one of the organisers of the march whose degree was reportedly suspended by Punjab University.
Hasnain was seen beating the drum in a viral video from Faiz Festival in which student activists were mobilising for the march. His degree was reportedly suspended by the university administration.
The governor also told Farooq Tariq that he agrees with the demand for restoration of students unions in the country, and added that he would take it up at a higher level.
