FO Condemns Incident Of Holy Quran’s Desecration In Norway
The Foreign Office on Thursday condemned the incident of desecration of the Holy Quran in Norway and has said that Pakistan’s policy of respect of religions was to ‘live and let live’.

Recently, there was an incident in Norway whereby a demonstration had been held by the group, Stop Islamisation of Norway (SIAN), and one of its members had tried to burn the Holy Quran.

According to a report in Russia Today, one of the group’s leaders, Lars Thorsen, defied a police order against desecration of the holy book of Muslims. Thorsen set fire to a copy of the religious text and was subsequently attacked by a counter-protester.

Videos doing the rounds on social media showed Thorsen holding a burning copy of the Holy Quran, while a person jumped over a fence and charged at him. The person who attacked Thorsen fell to the ground while police rushed to break up the fight.

Local authorities had given the organisation permission to hold the rally, but police had warned SIAN against desecrating the Quran.

Reportedly, both the anti-Islam activist and the one who attacked him have been arrested by the police.
