The long-standing issue of handing over the possession of the China Pakistan Economic City in Nowshera to the Pakistani government has been resolved.

In this regard, Nowshera Deputy Commissioner Shahid Ali Khan stated that special attention and untiring efforts had helped in resolving this issue which was pending since 2012.

The project, which started in 2012, could not materialise due to stiff resistance from the local inhabitants when it came to handing over possession of their land. The land allocated for this project measured 84,500 kanals, spreading over six villages of Mughalki, Mian Essa , Nandrak, Meshak, Ali Muhammad and Mesri Banda.

After a series of engagement sessions with local elders and community members, the possession of the land was finally handed over to Pakhtunkhwa Housing Authority

The project comprises of an educational city which would consist of housing societies, schools, colleges and universities. It will change the dynamics of the area by providing job opportunities, standard housing and quality education to the inhabitants of the area.

The area lies next to the proposed Rashakai economic zone, which will not only contribute to the country’s economy but will also provide employment opportunities.
