PPP Leader Killed By Unknown Assailants In Bajaur

A regional leader of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) was murdered in the tribal district of Bajaur by unknown target killers on Wednesday.

Targeted killing of leaders and elders is increasing day by day in Bajaur district, which has raised serious concerns among the locals about the deployment of security forces in the area.

Levies forces and local police of Bajaur have stated that the incident happened in Khar tehsil in the afternoon. 

The regional leader, Mian Gul Jan, was shot dead by unknown assailants in front of his house.

The dead body of the PPP leader was shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Bajaur where it was handed over to his family after conduction of medico-legal formalities.

The Levies personnel cordoned off the area after the incident and initiated a search for the killers. The reason behind the murder is yet unknown.

Till now, no terror group has claimed responsibility for the murder.

Recently, many political leaders and pro-government elders have come under attack in Bajaur. On September 27, a member of the pro-government peace committee Malik Nadir Khan lost his life in a bomb blast in Bajaur.

Khan was going to the market by using a route in the fields, when an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded. He was critically injured in the blast and died after being shifted to the hospital.

On September 24, local leader of Awami National Party (ANP), Ikramullah, was abducted by unknown persons from his under-construction house in Islam Dheri area in Khar.

Moreover, on September 20, unknown miscreants abducted Dr Jabbar Khan from his clinic in Halalkhel, Charming.
