NEW DELHI: Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat and Indian Air Force (IAF) head Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria once again threatened Pakistan with surgical strikes last week, thus stoking up war-hysteria over Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK).
According to a report published in The Times of India, the army chief said that Indian troops would cross the Line of Control (LoC) while referring to an earlier strike in Balakot region which Pakistan claimed had only destroyed a few trees.
While responding to a query regarding the use of nuclear weapons, General Rawat said that nuclear weapons were not conventional weapons, adding that those who were making claims of using these weapons were not in the right state of mind.
“They are not conventional weapons. Therefore, I find it difficult to comprehend when someone says that he will use nuclear warheads in a conventional war or in case of an attack. Will the world community ever allow you to use nuclear weapons like this?" he questioned.
In September, the IAF Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria had said that the air force was ready to take any action against Pakistan for which it had purchased the new Rafale aircraft.
"Once inducted, Rafale will prove to be a very capable aircraft. It will be a game-changer in terms of our operational capability. It will give us an edge over Pakistan and China," Bhadauria told Indian media after taking over as IAF chief last month.
