Nimrita Kumari's Death: Male DNA Found On Dead Body
Authorities investigating the death of a Hindu student have found DNA samples of a male suspect on her body and clothes, giving a new direction to the case that was purported to be one of suicide.

Nimrita Kumari, hailing from Ghotki, was a student of Bibi Aseefa Dental College of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University in Larkana. On September 16, Nimrita had been found dead in her hostel room with marks on her neck that indicated suicide.

Nimrita’s brother had claimed that his sister did not commit suicide, as he had talked to his sister just two days before and she seemed happy and expressed that she would be in the top ten students this year.

He stated that the first girl who came across the body found her with a duputta around her neck. He added that the marks on her neck indicated the use of a wire, and that there were marks on Nimrita’s hands as if someone had gripped her forcefully.

After the student’s death, the principal of Larkana’s Chandka Medical College, Professor Dr Das Dholia, had informed media that the initial post-mortem report had indicated the cause of death to be suicide and that no torture marks were found on Nimrita’s body.

A week later, the Sindh High Court (SHC) directed that a judicial inquiry should be conducted to investigate the death of the student.

Police had detained 32 suspects, including Mehran Abro and Ali Shah Memon. Mehran Abro had confessed to being romantically involved with the student.

A senior police official of Larkana, Masood Bangash, had stated that Nimrita Chandani’s DNA report revealed the DNA sample of a male suspect on her body and clothes.

The officer stated that the investigation had taken a new direction with the revelation, adding that the report would be produced before a court of law.
