A private school teacher has been arrested by Khyber police in the murder case of a student of seventh grade in Jamrud.

While speaking at a press conference at Jamrud Press Club on Sunday, District Police Officer Mohammad Hussain stated that the teacher, Roidad, was in police’s custody along with some other suspects. Hussain stated that the suspect had confessed to his crime during initial interrogations.

On Tuesday, the body of a 13-year-old was found at a deserted place in Jamrud. The boy had been missing from his home since Monday evening.

The DPO apprised media that police was under a strong suspicion that Roidad was responsible for the missing boy, and the investigation team had been monitoring him. He added that currently, police were waiting for the final postmortem report to gauge if there had been a sexual assault.

The suspect informed investigators that he was unhappy with Kashif (the murdered boy), for being friends with people he believed were not of a good character.

Police have also recovered a 30-bore pistol, an empty bullet casing, and the motorbike allegedly used by the killer. The DPO also informed media that Kashif’s mobile phone, which the suspect had tried to burn, was also seized.

The police official also expressed his gratitude to the judiciary for allowing the investigation team to exhume Kashif’s body three days after the burial for a postmortem.
