Indian Headmaster Suspended For Making Students Sing Iqbal’s Poem
A schoolmaster was suspended in Uttar Pradesh state of India for making students sing renowned Urdu poet Muhammad Iqbal’s poem.

News of the headmaster's suspension was condemned by users on different social media platforms, with Indian journalist Barkha Dutt terming the incident as “absolutely abominable”.

The journalist took to social media site Twitter and said in a tweet: “An Uttar Pradesh headmaster has been suspended for making students sing Iqbal poem ‘Lab Pe Aati Hai Dua.’ Not just is this absolutely abominable, what pray are you going to do about Saare Jahan Se Acha, also written by Iqbal. Remove it from all our schools? Suspend everyone?”

Commenting on the incident, other social media users criticised the prevailing system in India and asked whether it could still be called a secular country.
