Hamdullah Thanks Marvi Sirmed For Support Against NADRA’s Decision
Former senator and senior leader of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Hafiz Hamdullah, has expressed his appreciation for the support given to him by Marvi Sirmed following the cancellation of his citizenship.
Hamdullah telephoned the human rights activist to thank her for the support she had given him on social media after the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) had cancelled his citizenship.
NADRA had declared Hamdullah an alien on October 26 and had blocked his CNIC. Meanwhile, PEMRA had issued an order directing TV channels not to invite Hamdullah on talk shows.
Marvi Sirmed had expressed her support for the former senator, and had stated on Twitter that people should not back the government’s stance of ousting him from Pakistan.
This is the reason why Mr. Hamdullah's nationality has suddenly become an issue. None of us should support Govt's action of forcibly ousting him from Pakistan and taking away his acquired Pakistani identity. Very very dangerous precedent. Its not about his misogyny. Not. pic.twitter.com/x4vF3NhhsX

Sirmed’s support for Hamdullah came as a surprise to many as a few years back, both had an abusive fight on a talk show, in which Hamdullah had given Marvi an indirect rape threat.
